One of the earliest images mum has of me is as a toddler bunny hopping across the lawn to smell the gorgeous scented roses in our garden. I feel if I close my eyes, I can still smell them many decades later! So while I am late to floristry, flower memories are woven through every stage of my life, as they will be for most of us. I
have had a wonderful meandering career and bring aspects of my former roles into floristry work. I was a speech and language therapist first and from here I bring my listening ear, my curiosity and an ability to sit alongside people at difficult times in their lives, something that is invaluable for funeral work. I then moved into medical education, teaching healthcare professionals ‘how to teach’. It is perhaps no surprise that I adore running workshops and sharing my passion for sustainable floristry. And now, it is all about the ways in which I can bring the joy to others, adding meaning to their life stories through flowers, just as they have added meaning to mine.
